- Greater Chennai Corporation has awarded tenders to three firms to biomine the 50-year-old Kodungaiyur dump yard.
- The state and union governments will contribute 41% of the project cost, the corporation will bear the remaining expenses.
- Currently, 100% segregation is aimed at for 2030 and that’s far away.
- Bio-mining is a technically assisted and economically managed extraction of recyclables and other revenue-generating fractions from waste materials.
