- Odisha plans to make the Konark temple town a 100 percent solar town.
- It was built by King Narasimhadeva I, the great ruler of the Ganga dynasty.
- The temple was included in UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1984.
- This temple was also known as ‘BLACK PAGODA’
- Similarly, the Jagannath Temple in Puri was called the “White Pagoda”.
