- The Indian classical dancer and a towering figure in Kathak - Kumudini Lakhia of Gujarat passed away.
- In 1967, she had founded the Kadamb Centre for Dance, a space that became synonymous with her bold reimagining of Kathak.
- She also received the Padma Shri (1987), Padma Bhushan (2010) and Padma Vibhushan (2025) awards.
