Parali I island, part of Bangaram atoll, which had an area of 0.032 sq.km in 1968 has been completely vanished due to coastal erosion. It is one of the uninhabited islands that are a part of Lakshadweep islands.
The researchers recommended checking the feasibility of a bio protection strategy using mangroves, in addition to the conventional physical protection measures to protect the islands.
