- Lansdowne was a British politician who served as Viceroy of India from 1888 to 1894.
- The Cantonment and Regimental Centre for the training of recruits of the Garhwal Rifles was located in a forest area popularly known as Kalundanda.
- Jaswant was awarded the Maha Vir Chakra posthumously while his battalion received the Battle Honour Nuranang.
