  • The Election Commission of India has declared the results for 542 of the 543 Lok Sabha constituencies.
  • BJP has been reduced to 240 seats this time, compared to 303 it won in the 2019 polls.
  • The BJP is falling short of the 272-majority mark and got the support of allies in the party-led NDA for government formation.
  • BJP fails to win a single seat in Tamil Nadu, Punjab, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram and Nagaland.
  • It opened account in Kerala in Lok Sabha elections (Suresh Gopi) for the first time by winning the Thrissur Lok Sabha seat.
  • The INDIA bloc has mounted surprisingly massive gains (235), with Congress recording its highest tally since 2014.
  • Overall, BJP saw a 21% fall in its seat share while Congress registered an impressive 90% jump.
  • Shankar Lalwani of the BJP scripted history as he won the Indore Lok Sabha seat by a huge margin of over 100877 votes.
  • The 'None of the Above' option has got more than 2.18 lakh votes in the same constituency, breaking the previous NOTA record of Gopalganj in Bihar.
  • In Maharashtra's Mumbai North West constituency, the Shiv Sena (SS) candidate Ravindra Dattaram Waikar narrowly edged out the SS(UBT) candidate Amol Gajanan Kirtikar by 48 votes.
