- Union Ministry of Shipping has approved the Loktak Inland Waterways project in the Manipur.
- Loktak Lake is the largest freshwater lake in Northeast and is famous for the phumdis floating over it.
- Phumdis are a series of floating islands, exclusive to the Loktak Lake.
- The largest single mass of phumdis covers an area of 40 km2.
- This mass constitutes the world’s largest floating park, named Keibul Lamjao National Park.
- The lake is located at Moirang in Manipur and is also home to endangered Sangai deers.
