Madras High Court Chief Justice Tahilramani

  • On August 28, the Supreme Court collegium led by Chief Justice of India consisting of five senior-most judges recommended the transfer of Madras High Court Chief Justice VK Tahilramani to the Meghalaya High Court.
  • The Chief Justice of Meghalaya High Court, Ajay Kumar Mittal has been posted in her place.
  • After that, Justice Tahilramani has submitted her resignation to the President.
  • She became a judge of Bombay High Court in 2001.

  • She was elevated as Chief Justice of Madras High Court in August 2018 and was due to retire from service in October 2020.
  • She was the 3rd Women Chief Justice of Madras High Court after Kanta Kumari Bhatnagar (1992/93) and Indira Banerjee (2017/18).
