- Jokha Alharthi, an author from Oman has won the Man Booker International Prize for "Celestial Bodies”.
- The novel was first published in 2010 as “Ladies of the Moon”.
- She is the first Arabic-language writer to take the prize.
- The Man Booker International Prize is an international literary award sponsored by the Man Group.
- It carries a cash prize of 50,000 pounds or 64,000 US dollar for the winning title, shared equally between author and translator.
- Jokha Alharthi will split the cash prize with her UK-based translator, Marilyn Booth.
- The Man Booker Prize for fiction is also awarded by the same group but it is for books written only in English language.
