Manas National Park - Tiger and Rhino Population

  • The Manas National Park and Tiger Reserve in Assam have witnessed a sharp rise in the population of rhinos and tigers.
  • The authorities of the national park expect the tiger population will rise to more than 60 from 48 as per the 2021 census.
  • The park’s Rhino population has also increased.
  • Manas National Park is a national park that has been given the status of UNESCO Natural World Heritage Site, an elephant reserve, a Project Tiger reserve, and a biosphere reserve.
  • It is located in the Himalayan foothills of Assam and is contiguous with Bhutan’s Royal Manas National Park.
