Mandate of climate risk reporting

September 26 , 2020 1395 days 878 0
  • New Zealand will be the first country in the World to require the financial sector to report on climate risks.
  • This means that about 200 of the country's biggest companies and banks would have to report on the impact that extreme weather events or climate polices will have on their business.
  • The changes build on the huge progress this Government has made to tackle the climate crisis.
  • If the proposal passes in the parliament, then the climate reporting would begin in 2023.
