- On 6th January 1832, Balshastri Jambhekar started the first newspaper 'Darpan’.
- It was also the first Marathi News Paper.
- Jambhekar is known as Father of Marathi journalism.
- He was also born on January 6 in 1812 at the Konkan region of Maharashtra state.
