- In 1982, Japanese automaker Suzuki started a joint venture with Maruti.

- On this occasion, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the company’s electric vehicle battery manufacturing plant at Hansalpur in Gujarat and the passenger vehicle plant at Kharkhoda, Haryana.
