Menstrual Hygiene Day is an annual awareness day observed on May 28.
It highlights the importance of good menstrual hygiene management (MHM).
It was initiated by the German-based NGO, WASH United in 2014.
The day offers an opportunity to actively advocate for the integration of MHM into global, national and local policies and programmes.
Since 1947, Japan’s Labour Laws provide women with menstrual leaves.
On the occasion of this day, Tamil Nadu government has installed Rs.5 sanitary napkin vending machines at Government Multi Super Speciality hospital in Chennai.
