Microchipping Chippiparai Dogs – Nellai Veterinary College

- Veterinary College and Research Institute, Tirunelveli has embarked on creating a database of the native Chippiparai dog breed and has done microchipping of around 100 such dogs for the first time in the country.
- Microchipping is mandatory for dogs that are members of the Kennel Club of India (KCI).
- This has gained Chippiparai a status on a par with elite exotic dog breeds in the country.
- Chippiparai has also gained distinction as a ‘universal donor’ of canine blood.
