  • Recent studies have shown not only Microplastics are in oceans but also the rain, snow, and even clouds.
  • The low-altitude and denser clouds had more amount of microplastics.
  • They include polyethylene terephthalate (otherwise known as PET), polypropylene, polyethylene and polystyrene.
  • All these particles commonly found in synthetic fibres, clothing and textiles, as well as packaging and face masks.
  • Microplastics in clouds may affect the weather and climates of the region.
  • Microplastics have been defined as tiny chunks of less than five millimetres long pieces of plastic.
