- Karnataka has the highest percentage of billionaire MLAs.
- It also emerged as the state with the highest average assets per MLA (223 MLAs).
- It is followed by Arunachal Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, Himachal Pradesh, Gujarat, and Madhya Pradesh.
- The MLAs in the state have average assets of Rs 64.39 crore.
- This is followed by Andhra Pradesh (174 MLAs) with average assets of Rs 28.24 crore and Maharashtra (284 MLAs) with average assets of Rs 23.51 crore.
- Tripura has the lowest average assets per MLA, with 59 MLAs having an average of Rs 1.54 crores.
- DK Shivakumar (INC) from Kanakapura, Karnataka 2023 topped in the list with total assets worth Rs1,413 crore.
- Nirmal Kumar Dhara (BJP) from Indus (SC), West Bengal 2021 is bottom in the list with total assets worth Rs 1,700.
- Congress has the most of billionaire MLAs (33 of 719 analysed MLAs, 5 percent).
- BJP followed with 24 of 1,356 MLAs (2 percent) have assets worth over Rs 100 crore.
- The average assets of an MLA from state assemblies in India are worth Rs 13.63 crore.
- Of 4,001 MLAs analysed, 1,777 legislators have been charged with various criminal cases.
- A total of 37 MLAs, out of a total of 70 (around 53%), in the Delhi have serious criminal cases against them.
