The Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) Lakshadweep MP Mohammed Faizal was disqualified from the Lok Sabha.
He was convicted him and three others on charges of attempting to murder case and sentenced all the three to rigorous imprisonment for 10 years.
Now, the Kerala high court rejected his plea to suspend his conviction in an attempt to murder case.
Under Section 8(3) of the Representation of Peoples Act 1951, a sitting legislator who is convicted for an offence and sentenced to a punishment of two or more years stands disqualified from the date of conviction.
Also, for a further period of six years ban unless they can get the order of conviction suspended.
