The 2019 global Multidimensional Poverty Index (MPI) from the UN Development Programme (UNDP), the Oxford Poverty and Human Development Initiative (OPHI) has been released.
It states that India has lifted 271 million people out of poverty between 2006 and 2016.
Jharkhand has shown highest progress in India.
It reduced the incidence of multidimensional poverty from 74.9% in 2005-06 to 46.5% in 2015-16.
