The 5-day Naropa Festival concluded in Ladakh with a Guinness World Record in Ladakhi Dance.
The festival also known as ‘Kumbh Mela of the Himalayas’ is celebrated on every 12th year of the Tibetian calendar.
The festival celebrates the teachings and preachings of Buddhist scholar-saint, Naropa.
To mark its end this year, 299 Ladakhi women in traditional attire danced together ‘Shondol’, a traditional dance to enter into the Guinness World Record.
At the end of the festival, ‘Tsering Ladol’ was honoured with ‘Himalayan Hero’ Award.
Tsering ladol was the first Ladakhi girl to scale Mt Everest in 2005.
