  • The 5-day Naropa Festival concluded in Ladakh with a Guinness World Record in Ladakhi Dance.
  • The festival also known as ‘Kumbh Mela of the Himalayas’ is celebrated on every 12th year of the Tibetian calendar.
  • The festival celebrates the teachings and preachings of Buddhist scholar-saint, Naropa.
  • To mark its end this year, 299 Ladakhi women in traditional attire danced together ‘Shondol’, a traditional dance to enter into the Guinness World Record.
  • At the end of the festival, ‘Tsering Ladol’ was honoured with ‘Himalayan Hero’ Award.
  • Tsering ladol was the first Ladakhi girl to scale Mt Everest in 2005.
