- During this day, Indian flags, batches, stickers, and other items are sold to raise funds for the betterment of the Armed Forces staff.
- The funds raised on Flag Day are also used for the rehabilitation of battle casualties.
- In honour of Indian soldiers, sailors, and airmen, this day has become a tradition over the years since 1949.
- On August 28, 1949, a committee was set up under the then Defence Minister of India and decided to observe a Flag Day annually on December 7.
