National Broadcasting Day - July 23

  • It is to commemorate the first ever radio broadcast aired in India on 23rd July 1927.
  • It was made from Bombay Station.
  • It was then owned by a private company called the Indian Broadcasting Company.
  • The Government took over the broadcasting on April 1, 1930 and renamed it as Indian State Broadcasting Service (ISBS).
  • The Indian State Broadcasting Service (ISBS) became the All India Radio (AIR) in June 1936.
