National Cancer Registry Programme Report 2020

  • The Indian Council of Medical Research released “National Cancer Registry Programme Report”, 2020.
  • According to the report, the number of cancer patients in India are to increase to 15.7 lakhs by 2025.
  • Tobacco related cancers are to account to 27.1% of India’s cancer burden in 2020.
  • The highest incidence of cancer in India was observed in North East region. 
  • Aizawl district in Mizoram and Papumpare district in Arunachal Pradesh recorded the highest age adjusted rates (AAR) of cancer per 1 lakh population.
  • The highest incidence of breast cancer was observed in Chennai, Hyderabad, Delhi and Bengaluru.
