- The Union Government has set up a state of -the- art the National Data Repository.
- The repository is a database of all the geo-scientific data of hydrocarbon resources in the country.
- It will be wholly funded by the Government of India and will be housed with the Directorate General of Hydrocarbons.
- The DGH is a technical arm of the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas (MoPNG).
- With this, India has joined the league of countries like UK and Norway which have a National Data Repository for the upstream sector.
