- Every year since 1968, September 15 is celebrated as Engineer’s day.
- It is celebrated also as a mark of respect on the birth anniversary of Sir Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya.
- He is credited for Krishna Raja Sagara Dam situated in Mysuru and for bringing up flood protection system in Hyderabad.
- Its construction was started in 1911 and was completed in 1932.
- He received Bharat Ratna, in 1955.
- He is held in high regard as a pre-eminent engineer of India.
- The theme of this 52nd Engineers day is “Engineering for Change”.
