- It is observed to pay homage to firemen and officers of the Mumbai Fire Brigade.
- They lost their lives while fighting a major fire on the ship, Fort Stikine, in 1944, at Bombay Port.
- This year’s theme is “Maintenance of Fire Safety Equipment is to Mitigate Fire Hazrads”.
