- NATGRID has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB)
- It is to access the centralised online Crime and Criminal Tracking Network and Systems (CCTNS) database for getting details of First Information Reports (FIRs) and stolen vehicles.
- With the access to CCTNS database, NATGRID will act as a link between intelligence and investigation agencies.
- It will provide a link between the data of 14,000 police stations from across the country.
- But the State police will not be part of NATGRID.
- The initiative of NATGRID was proposed by after the 2008 Mumbai Attacks.
