- While 26 from the previous list have been dropped.
- The medicines have been categorized into 27 therapeutic categories.
- With this, several antibiotics, vaccines and anti-cancer drugs will become more affordable by their addition to the list.
- NLEM plays an important role in ensuring the accessibility of affordable quality medicines at all levels of healthcare.
- It is a list released by the National Pharmaceuticals Pricing Authority (NPPA).
- The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare prepared and released the first in 1996 consisting of 279 medicines.
- This list was subsequently revised in 2003, 2011, 2015 and 2022.
