- Milan Shankar Tare, a fisherman from Maharashtra’s Palghar district, has been selected for this year’s National Maritime Search and Rescue Award.
- The fisherman had saved the lives of 12 people from a sinking fishing boat named Shivneri in May 2018.
- National Maritime Search and Rescue Award was instituted by the National Maritime Search and Rescue Board.
