- Prime minister launched National Nutrition Mission (NMM) at an event held at Jhunjhunu in Rajasthan on the occasion of International Women’s Day.
- NNM is an apex body under the Ministry of Women and Child Development to monitor, supervise, fix targets and guide nutrition related interventions across Ministries.
- It will monitor various schemes contributing towards addressing malnutrition.
- The mission will be jointly launched by the ministries of WCD, Health and Family Welfare and Water Resources, together with NITI Aayog.
- The mission has set an ambitious goal of reducing incidence of stunting among children from 38.4 % now to 25 % by 2022.
