- The Union Minister of State (independent charge) for AYUSH Shripad Naik inaugurated the National Research Institute of Unani Medicine for Skin Disorders.
- The institute was upgraded from Central Research Institute of Unani Medicine of Hyderabad.
- AYUSH includes 6 Indian systems of medicine that includes Ayurveda, Yoga, Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homeopathy.
