National Safety Day - March 04

  • National Safety Day was observed for the first time in 1972.
  • It is observed every year to commemorate the foundation of the National Safety Council.
  • It is observed to propagate and create awareness among the general public about the various safety measures and hygienic measures that people need to inculcate in their lifestyle.
  • This year's theme is ‘Sadak Suraksha (Road Safety).’

National Safety Council

  • It was set up by the Government of India, Ministry of Labour and Employment on 4 March 1965.
  • It is setup to generate and develop a voluntary movement on Safety, Health, and Environment.
  • It is an autonomous body.
