- Puducherry has been handpicked by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to host the 25th National Youth Festival on the occasion of birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda.
- He also inaugurated the ‘Perunthalaivar Kamarajar Manimandapam’, a modern auditorium with an open-air theatre in Puducherry.
- National Youth Festival started in 1995 as a major activity under the programme held by National Integration Camp (NIC).
- It is organized by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports and in association with one of the State Governments.
