For the first time, the Reserve Bank of India released the 200 rupees notes. It is expected that the demand for smaller denominations will be reduced by this move.
Released in the dark yellow colour, the new note will be in the size of 66 mm * 146 mm. There will be image of Mahatma Gandhi in the center of the note along with the number 200 printed in differentiating colour.
Apart from this, magnifying numbers, Ashok Chakra symbol and four line in two corners will be placed for the easy identification by visually challenged people.
The slogan and symbol of ‘Clean India’; the image of Sanchi stupa, which promotes the Indian heritage and culture, will be printed in the backside of the new note.
The central government released the new denominations of 500 and 2000 in the last November (2016) after the demonetization of high value notes of 500 and 1000.
Due to this, liquidity crunch occurred along with the reduction of currency circulation.
