- The United Kingdom is in talks with India for building a new state-of-the-art aircraft carrier.
- It will be named INS Vishal and commissioned in 2022.
- The project is a part of ‘Make in India’.
- INS Vishal is planned to be similar to the 65,000-ton HMS Queen Elizabeth.
- HMS Queen Elizabeth is Britain’s largest aircraft super-carrier capable of carrying up to 60 warcrafts.
- Earlier, Britain had sold HMS Hermes in 1987 to India.
- It was renamed and used INS Viraat till 2017.
