- Dr C Sylendra Babu has been appointed the 30th Director General of Police in Tamil Nadu.
- He will take charge from July 1, 2021.
- He will hold office for a tenure of two years up to 2023.
- The incumbent DGP JK Tripathy retired on June 30, 2021.
- Sylendra Babu was previously serving as the Director General of Police of Railways in Tamil Nadu.
- He also held the portfolio of the Tamil Nadu Fire and Rescue Services as its director.
- Chief Minister M.K. Stalin announced the name of Sylendra Babu after a meeting of top officials including Chief Secretary Irai Anbu, incumbent DGP J.K. Tripathi and Home Secretary S.K. Prabhakar.
