- International Energy Agency (IEA) released a report titled ‘A new era of nuclear energy’.
- Currently nuclear provides just under 10% of global electricity supply.
- As of the end of 2024, there were 63 nuclear reactors (71 GW) under construction.
- More than 40 countries around the world have plans to expand Nuclear’s role in their energy systems.
- Since 2017, China has started construction on 25 reactors, and Russia on 23 reactor more than 99% of the enrichment capacity takes place in four supplier countries, with Russia accounting for 40% of global capacity.
- The annual investment in nuclear energy needs to double to USD 120 billion by 2030 to meet projected demand.
