New Free Contraceptive Medicine under Parivar Vikas Scheme – Central Government

  • To fulfill the needs of population control for the Public, the Union Government has introduced two free contraceptive medicines namely Anthara and Chhaya. In these, Anthara has to be injected through syringe while Chhaya has to be taken in the form of Pills.
  • Under the Parivar Vikas scheme, these drugs have been introduced in the important 146 districts among the country’s 44 % of Population. In the first phase, the drug has been introduced in the states of Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Karnataka, Haryana, West Bengal, Odisha, New Delhi and Goa.
  • To help the women community for preventing and postponing the pregnancy these to drugs have been introduced at free of costs.
  • The main aim of the Parivar Vikas is to reduce the Fertility ratio to 2:1 level within 2025.
