- The handlooms department of Tamilnadu has also proposed to get geographical indication tag for five traditional varieties of handloom products.
- They are, the silk saris from Chinnalapatti; Koorainadu saris; Nagarcoil vaeti; Uuraiyur saris; and Gudiyatham lungis.
- Tamil Nadu currently hosts 58 GI products.
- Uttar Pradesh topped with the most GI-tagged products (75) in India.
