Iraq's parliament elected veteran politician Barham Salih as the country's eighth president.
Mr Salih ran against the Fuad Hussein.
According to the Iraqi constitution, the president-elect needs to gather at least two thirds of the votes of the 329 parliament members.
Barham Ahmed Salih was former prime minister of Iraq's semi-autonomous Kurdistan from 2001 to 2004.

According to an informal power-sharing arrangement dating back to the 2003, United States-led invasion, senior government roles are divided between the predominant ethno-sectarian groups – with
