- Rajendra Trivedi, the BJP MLA from Vadodara, was unanimously elected as Speaker of the 14th Gujarat Legislative Assembly on the first day of the Budget session.
- Trivedi's name was proposed by CM Vijay Rupani and it was backed by the Congress legislative party, led by the Leader of Opposition Paresh Dhanani.
- Gujarat Legislative Assembly or Gujarat Vidhan Sabha is the unicameral legislature of the Indian state of Gujarat. It is situated in the capital Gandhinagar.
- Presently, 182 members of the Legislative Assembly are directly elected from the single-seat constituencies and one member is nominated.
