New species of the Genus Ardisia

  • The scientist of Jawaharlal Nehru Tropical Botanic Garden and Research Institute, identified a new species of the Genus Ardisia in the Akkamalai forest in the Anamalai Tiger Reserve, Tamil Nadu.
  • The new species Ardisia ramaswamii, named after the 20th Century Botanist M.S. Ramaswami.
  • It is included in the Red list of the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN).
