- Scientists have recently identified a new species of wasp from the genus in Goa.
- It was collected in the Western Ghats forests from Cotigao Wildlife sanctuary which is located in Southern Goa.
- It is named as “Kudakrumia rangnekari” after Parag Rangnekar, a Goa-based researcher.
- He has recorded 220 species of Butterflies in Western Ghats region of which 13 species had not been spotted earlier.
- Wasps are proficient at controlling pest populations and thus are deployed to protect crops.
