New Wetland and Mangrove Conservation scheme

- On the occasion of World Environment Day, two new schemes were launched to reviving the country's wetlands and mangroves.
- They were: Amrit Dharohar and MISHTI (Mangrove Initiative for Shoreline Habitats and Tangible Incomes).
- Amrit Dharohar Yojana will ensure the conservation of the existing Ramsar sites through public participation.
- The MISHTI scheme will help revive and protect the mangrove ecosystem in the country.
- India accounts for about 3% of South Asia’s mangrove population.
