- National Green Tribunal has appointed S J Vazifdar, Retired Judge as the Head of the 3-member committee to decide Vedanta’s plea challenging closure of Sterlite Copper Plant.
- S J Vazifdar is a former Chief Justice of Punjab and Haryana High Courts
- The committee also includes representatives of the Central Pollution Control Board and the Ministry of Environment and Forests
- The committee will commence work within two weeks and will submit the report within six weeks.
