The NITI Aayog has prepared a report on the policy framework for Carbon Capture Utilisation and Storage (CCUS).
India is the third largest emitter of CO2 in the world after China and the US about 2.6 gigatonne per annum.
So, carbon capture utilisation and storage are an essential imperative for India to reach its Decarbonisation Goals.
CCUS is the process of capturing carbon dioxide emissions and either using them to make things such as building materials (utilization) or permanently storing those thousands of feet below the surface (storage).
