- India successfully test fired the surface-to-surface ballistic missile Agni-5 from Dr Abdul Kalam Island in the Bay of Bengal off Odisha coast.
- This is the 7th trial of the indigenously-developed surface-to-surface missile, while the second one in the last 6 months.
- Agni-5 is a 3-stage missile which has a strike range of 5,000 km.
