Utkal Divas also known as Odisha Day is celebrated on 1 April every year in all over Odisha.
It is celebrated to commemorate the formation of the state,whісh wаѕ carved out οf thе combined Bengal-Bihar-Orissa province in 1936.
with the defeat and death of king Mukunda Dev the last Hindu king in 1568 Orissa lost its complete political identity. Then it continued to be a part of Bengal province for many years. led to the formation of a separate state under British rule on the basis of the language on 1 April 1936.
The leaders such as Madhusudan Das, Gopabandhu Das, Maharaja Krusha Chandra Gajapati, Fakir Mohan Senapati, and Gouri Shankar Ray played a key role in the formation of a separate Odisha State on linguistic basis under British rule.
