One nation, One ration card scheme

- Tamil Nadu has launched the Union government’s ‘one nation, one ration card’ scheme in Tuticorin and Tirunelveli districts of the State on February 1, 2020 as a pilot project.
- The state government will study the successful implementation of the project in these two districts for a period of one month.
- The scheme will be beneficial to migrant workers to get their monthly quota of provisions at the place where they are working.
- However, Kerosene is not included in the scheme as it can be purchased only in PDS shops where the card has been registered.
