- Ooty’s first multi-speciality medical college, officially known as the Government Medical College, was inaugurated in the Nilgiris.
- The 40-acre hospital in Indu Nagar will have 21 departments and first-of-its-kind patient facilities.
- For the first time a special ward with 50 beds would be opened in the medical college for the tribal communities.
- This is India’s Second one in Hill after Shimla.
